Hurricane-Season Exterior Checklist for Orlando

Hurricane season runs June through November, and most exterior damage we see isn't from the dramatic direct hit — it's from six months of wind-driven rain, debris and biological growth working on surfaces that went into the season already compromised. Here's the checklist worth actually doing.

Before the season (June)

• Clear roof debris and check gutters. Leaves and branch litter hold moisture against the roof and clog drainage exactly when you need it most.
• Soft wash mold and algae off walls and roofs. Colonized surfaces hold moisture; clean surfaces shed it. Going into the wet season clean means growth has to start from zero.
• Wash and inspect solar arrays. Clean panels make post-storm damage inspection photos meaningful — you can't compare against a baseline you never captured.

• Look up. Streaking that appears suddenly after a storm often marks a drainage problem, not just dirt — worth diagnosing before the next one.
